The Heart Earrings That Reminded Me I Was Enough
The Heart Earrings That Reminded Me I Was Enough
Years ago, I found the cutest pair of heart earrings—simple, dainty, and perfect for February. I didn’t have anyone to buy them for me, so I bought them for myself. And every time I put them on, they were a little reminder:
💖 I am valuable.
💖 I am worthy of love.
💖 I can wear adorable heart accessories whenever I want, because I say so.
I wore those earrings all month long, not waiting for anyone to pick me, because I had already chosen myself.
Then Love Came Along… Later Than Expected
Fast forward to now, and I’m happily married to the love of my life. I found love later in life, after years of thinking maybe it just wasn’t in the cards for me. Turns out, the best things show up exactly when they’re supposed to—whether it’s love, opportunities, or the last available parking spot at Target on a Saturday.
But here’s the thing: I still believe in treating yourself on Valentine’s Day. Because whether you’re single, dating, married, or somewhere in between, loving yourself is the best foundation for loving anyone else.
What to Do if You’re Single on Valentine’s Day
First of all, let me say this: You are not unchosen. You are just waiting for the right person who will appreciate you the way you deserve.
And in the meantime? You get to celebrate you.
Here are my top Valentine’s Day ideas for treating yourself:
💖 Buy the earrings. Or the shoes. Or the cute candle that smells like fresh-baked cookies. You don’t need permission to treat yourself.
🍫 Get the fancy chocolates. Because the good ones never go on sale, and you deserve them while they’re fresh.
📚 Read the book that makes you happy. Whether it’s a swoon-worthy romance, a hilarious memoir, or a murder mystery because you’d rather read about love gone wrong, just enjoy it.
💆♀️ Have a spa night at home. Bubble baths, fuzzy robes, and no one asking what’s for dinner.
🍷 Go out with your single friends (or take yourself out). Because who says couples get to have all the fun?
Married Valentine’s Day: What Do You Buy the Man Who Has Everything?
Now that I have a husband, you’d think gift-giving would be easier, right? Wrong.
This man has everything he needs, which means I’m left scheming creative ideas to make Valentine’s Day special for him. This year, I’m considering:
💘 A surprise experience – Concert tickets? A cooking class? A mystery getaway? Basically, something that won’t end up in a junk drawer.
💘 A personalized gift – Because nothing says romance like “Here’s an object with your initials on it that you now have to keep forever.”
💘 A homemade dinner (or cookies) – This is where I have an advantage because he’s the chef in our house. So naturally, I’ll be making my most special dish… reservations.
💘 A heartfelt letter – Because sometimes, the best gift isn’t bought—it’s written. (Preferably on stationery that doesn’t have a grocery list on the back.)
No Matter Where You Are, You Are Loved
Valentine’s Day can be complicated, lovely, silly, or completely ignored—and every one of those is fine.
If you’re single, treat yourself.
If you’re married, celebrate your person.
If you’re somewhere in between, grab some chocolate and enjoy the fact that you don’t have to split it.
But most of all, remember this: You are already loved, already enough, and already worthy of all the good things life has to offer. 💖
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go find the perfect Valentine’s earrings and finalize my husband gift scheme. Wish me luck.
